Sally Crosthwaite Botanical Artist

Sally has both loved and painted flowers from an early age. Her painting developed dramatically during a two year Diploma Course on Botanical Illustration for which she was awarded a Distinction.

Sally was awarded the coveted RHS Gold Medal for her paintings of Iridaceae in November 2001.

Recently her paintings have been shown in several London West End Galleries including two exhibitions featuring Botanical Artists Past and Present. Her work has been included in the Botanical Artists of the World Exhibition and the Open Exhibition of the Society of Botanical Artists, of which she has been elected a Member.

Sally's designs are on porcelain plates and decorative ware and have been used for book illustrations. She was one of three botanical artists selected to paint for a special Channel 4 programme at the Chelsea Flower Show in 1999.
The Hunt Insititute for Botanical Documentation, Carnegie Mellon University, USA has accepted Sally's work for their permanent collection and eight paintings have been accepted for the Chelsea Physic Garden archives.

Sally has undertaken numerous commissions and her paintings are in private collections in USA, Sweden, Denmark, France as well as in the United Kingdom.
